Assisted return and reintegration for persons subjected to human trafficking and unaccompanied minors
DRC Danish Refugee Council, in collaboration with the Center against Human Trafficking (CMM) and the Danish Return Agency, offers assisted return and reintegration to persons who have been subjected to human trafficking, as well as to unaccompanied minors who wish to return home voluntarily.
Assisted return and reintegration for persons subjected to human trafficking and unaccompanied minors
It is the Danish Center against Human Trafficking (CMM) who conducts interviews with persons who have potentially been subjected to human trafficking and investigate whether there are indicators of human trafficking in the person's narrative. Based on this, the Danish authorities assess whether a person has been subjected to human trafficking.
CMM is responsible for counselling persons subjected to human trafficking about their options for receiving reintegration support upon return, while DRC is responsible for the cooperation with local reintegration partners, including identifying and building capacities within new partner organizations that can offer reintegration assistance after returning home.
DRC currently has active cooperation agreements with reintegration partners in the relevant ERSO countries as well as in Brazil, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Romania, Serbia and Zambia.
If the DRC does not have a cooperation agreement in a relevant recipient country, the possibilities of finding and entering into a cooperation agreement with a qualified organisation are explored.
Assisted return and reintegration is a tailored reintegration process that involves both activities in Denmark (counseling, psychological care, legal and social assistance as well as medical care) and assistance during and after arrival in the home country. A cash amount is offered, which is distributed over 5 months after returning to the home country, as well as an in kind support amount for reintegration activities.
"In kind" support means that the support is transferred and administered by the local reintegration partner in the relevant country of origin.
The in kind support can be used, for example, for rent, income-generating activities (such as starting a shop, barber/hairdressing salon, agriculture projects), education, medicine etc.
To access the programme, it is a requirement that the person in question actively contributes to their departure ad return.
