On 12 June 2026, the new EU asylum rules will be implemented. Denmark has a legal reservation to the Common European Asylum System (CEAS), but still implements selected files.
In 2024, the EU legislators adopted the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum (the EU Pact), and it will change the EU asylum rules.
Denmark has a legal reservation to the Common European Asylum System (CEAS), but has still applied selected files, such as the regulations on Dublin and Eurodac.
Denmark is also bound by the Return Directive due to the Danish participation in the Schengen cooperation.
